| Celebrity Fashion Obsessions Just a style statement? Here's why celebs often repeat their favorite finds Whether she's shopping, going to the gym or traveling, one travel companion Jessica Simpson can always count on is her Louis Vuitton bag . “That's my security bag,” Jessica says. The pop performer isn't the only celeb devoted to a fashionable accessory. Britney Spears arrived at her children's-custody court hearing on Oct. 26 sporting her white Versace handbag, which has been a consistent carryall in the singer's turbulent life. Other areas of Britney's life may be inconsistent, but her accessories don't waiver, and a great bag she can clutch is like having a security blanket. “Considering the crises some celebrities have been in, having that security can play a huge part in the ways they look and feel right now,” suggests nationally known “Image Lady” Wendy Brown, founder and C.E.O. of FWCunlimited.com . Some celebrities may even believe that carrying the same item repeatedly is one way that they can deflect attention from their problems. “They think people will focus more on the bag instead,” adds Brown. For some famous faces a piece of clothing they wear becomes synonymous with their public image, according to Brown. Brad Pitt has single-handedly brought the newsboy cap back in vogue, wearing it while strolling with daughter Zahara in New York City 's Central Park or at the Deauville Film Festival while promoting his new movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford . While many use hats to conceal their identities, Brown shoots down the notion that Brad is trying to hide under his. “When celebrities latch onto a particular item they absolutely love, it becomes a part of their signature style and image they just can't live without,” she explains. “He's just being himself.” From family outings to movie premieres, Brad sports his newsboy cap. “He looks dapper and adorable,” says Brown, the “Image Lady”. Justin Timberlake also makes a defining fashion statement in his cardigans. “He's bringing back a classic style the world has shied away from for such a long time,” says Brown. Jokes Justin, “At least I didn't bring Lycra back.” Sometimes celebs' devotion to a particular item can be explained more simply, as with Lindsay Lohan and her seemingly endless collection of black tights. “They're comfortable,” exclaims Brown, “and she looks cute wearing them.” Interviewed by -Delaina Dixon |
